At the Los Santos Police Department, our mission is to uphold the highest standards of law enforcement while ensuring that every individual in the City of Los Santos and its surrounding communities is respected and protected. From the chaotic streets of South Los Santos to the serene hills of Vinewood, the LSPD has been the city's frontline defense against crime, corruption, and disorder for over a century. Through gang wars, economic crises, and the rise of the digital age, our mission has evolved but our dedication to public safety remains committed & true-blue.​

Origins and Evolution​

Founded in 1909, the Los Santos Police Department began with just 12 officers, a single downtown station, and a fleet of horses. As Los Santos grew into a sprawling metropolis and entered the modern age, so too did the LSPD.

By the 1970s, the Department was a critical force during the city’s most high-crime period, marked by organized crime syndicates, civil unrest, and drug-fueled turf wars. It was during these years that the LSPD SWAT Division was born, a response team trained for high-risk situations that now stands as one of the most elitetactical units in the state.​

Now, over a century later, the city faces a new chapter. An influx of citizens from across the globe drawn by opportunity, chaos, or something else is reshaping Los Santos. And with it, a new era of crime is beginning to take root. These evolving threats challenge the Department daily. But as always, the LSPD stands ready. Evolving, adapting, and committed to protecting the streets of Los Santos.

From allegations of excessive force in the early 2000s to internal corruption scandals like the "Sour PatchKid" incident in 2017, we've confronted challenging truths that have tested our integrity and commitment to the community.

These events served for meaningful change. Today, the LSPD is guided by transparency, accountability, and active community engagement. Our officers undergo regular psychological evaluations, mandatory body-worn camera protocols, and participate in annual ethics training. These measures are part of our dedication to restoring public trust and ensuring that we serve the citizens of Los Santos with honor and integrity.
